Lewa Wilderness
Lewa is the bush home of Will and Emma Craig family. What’s great about staying at Lewa are all the activities available to guests, including do nothing!
Accommodations consist of free standing cottages, some with porches. Some of the views are so spectacular that it is difficult to tear one’s self away to participate in a traditional game drive. So for some, like myself, you can remain behind while your traveling companions can be off doing their “thing”.
Want to hike up the hill overlooking the dining area? No problem.
Want to take a stroll in the late afternoon, with a glass of wine in hand? Can do.
Want to perch yourself at tree height and peer down over the stream behind the lounge deck and watch elephants and giraffe come down to drink? No problem.
Lewa is a place to stay
forever. Thusly, a stay of 4 or
5 nights is entirely appropriate.
Draw a picture of yourself at Lewa
and share it with me. I will make
your dream come true.
One of Kenya's major private conservation successes, Lewa has been the Craig family home since 1924 when the Craig grandparents came here from England and began raising cattle here.
"Leave room for the wildlife" has been the Craig ethic since the nineteen twenties. Endangered species abound in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, including Rhino, Grevys Zebra and Sitatunga. As well as the focus on wildlife, there is a major commitment to community development and participation.
The family home accommodates 16 guests in comfortable thatched cottages with en-suite bathrooms. The food is wholesome, ranch style and organically grown. The wildlife experience on Lewa Wilderness suits guests from all walks of life and all ages.
